Ms. Lamia Marei is a member of the Banking and Finance Team since February 2015. She mainly specializes in banking and project finance, including drafting and negotiating finance documents, loan agreements and related security documents. Since joining the firm, she assisted in major project finance, syndicated and bilateral lending transactions involving among others, leading financial institutions and companies on behalf of clients both domestically and internationally.
Since 2009 till 2014, Ms. Marei was a senior lawyer at the legal department of the Commercial International Bank (CIB), where her main focus was providing different types of bank-related day-to-day advice, reviewing and drafting different types of agreements such as: service level agreements, escrow agreements, syndicated loan agreements, loan agreements, shareholders agreements in addition to providing legal advice to all the bank’s different departments and bank branches. She also worked on different major project finance, mergers and acquisitions transactions and assisted in finalizing other bank-related transactions.
Ms. Marei obtained her LL.B. from Cairo University in 2009, and completed her LL.M degree in International and Comparative Law from the Indiana University, Robert H. McKinney School of Law (Indianapolis) LL.M program taking place at Cairo University in 2011.
She is now enrolled in the Master in Finance and Responsible Banking provided by IEB (Instituto de Estudios Bursátiles – Madrid) in collaboration with the World Saving Banks Institute, and in association with the London School of Economics, which she is expected to obtain by March 2016.
Ms. Marei is a member of the Egyptian Bar Association and her working languages are Arabic and English.
