Elisabeth Shawky is an Associate in the Firm’s Capital Markets and Mergers and Acquisitions Department since 2017.
Ms. Shawky specializes in several fields of law and regularly advises the Firm’s local, international, corporate, and governmental clients on diverse legal issues including Civil Law, Anti-Trust Law, Intellectual Property Law, Companies Law, Capital Market Law, Labor Law, and other day-to-day legal queries. She has also engaged in corporate work involving drafting civil and commercial agreements, licensing agreements, commercial agency, distributorship, employment contracts, lease, and in corporate secretarial work including general assemblies and board meetings.
She has been involved in major transactions such as acquisitions and IPOs where she had an active role in the due diligence on target companies and in the drafting of the relevant sections of the International Prospectus and other agreements necessary. Since joining the Firm, Ms. Shawky has been involved in Media and Telecommunications as well as Hospital transactions.
Ms. Shawky obtained an LL.M in European and International Business Law from the University of Vienna. Prior to that, she attained a Master I in International Corporate Law (“Master 1 Droit International des Affaires”) from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in Paris, France, as well as an LL.B in French Private Law (“Licence Droit Privé”) from the same faculty. In parallel, she obtained an LL.B in Egyptian Law from Cairo University to be admitted to the Egyptian Bar Association. Prior to that, Ms. Shawky graduated from Deutsche Evangelische Oberschule Kairo (DEO) and obtained a German Abitur.
Ms. Shawky’s working languages are Arabic, English, German and French.
