Omar Abdel Aziz

Partner - Dispute Resolution: International Arbitration

Dr. Omar Abdel Aziz is a Partner with the Firm’s Arbitration Group. His professional experience involves working on complex disputes and transactions involving oil and gas and construction disputes. He advises the Firm’s Clients on several matters under Egyptian law and private international law, in addition to matters involving transnational and cross-border aspects. Moreover, he is involved in prosecuting institutional, and ad-hoc arbitral proceedings. Furthermore, he is particularly skilled in comparative and in-depth legal research and has notable expertise on civil and commercial law issues in the MENA region as well as European Private Law.

Dr. Abdel Aziz obtained; LLB with distinction (first class honours) and LLM in Comparative Private Law with distinction (first class honours) from Cairo University, LLM in Legislative Drafting Studies (Common Law and European law Directions) with distinction from University of London, Master of Philosophy (MPhil degree) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD Degree) in Comparative European Contract Law from University of London. He completed the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Membership Course at CRCICA on Comparative International Arbitration: Theory and Practise and was ranked first on class with distinction (first class honours). He is currently enrolled in the Diploma of International Commercial Arbitration, University of Oxford.

Dr. Abdel Aziz is Senior Lecturer, Civil Law Department (Cairo University), Associate Professor of Law, University of London (UoL), European Universities in Egypt (“EUE”). He is the Academic Director of the LLB & LLM programmes of UoL, EUE. He teaches Civil law, Evidence Law, English Contract law, English Tort law, English Legal system & Methods, and Anglo-Saxon Law (IDAI –Magister’ere(2)). Dr. Abdel Aziz is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).

Dr. Abdel Aziz represented clients across various sectors, including energy and construction, in arbitral proceedings under the auspices of the CRCICA, ICC, LCIA, DIAC, and the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules.
